Staff Design Recommendations

  • Adjustable lighting should be considered within almost every space; uplights, downlights, dimers and sensory lights

  • Storage is essential, but suitable storage is even better (e.g can fit larger pieces of equipment)

  • Bigger door frames are good for allowing different items in and out of spaces; as well as for manoeuvrability. It also will accommodate for changes in products and technologies in the coming years

  • Less clutter the better. If there are things on the wall they should be structured and organised.

  • Colour wise; Red is considered 'bad' for those who are autistic. However, it is found a lot in Hazelwood due to the stark contrast. This contrast is essential but can be easily done using other colours.

  • Acoustics are extremely important. A person can recognise an area by the change in volume within the space. For example, the noise level increase going from a large open space to  smaller corridor
